The official name of Bhutan is Kingdom of Bhutan. Bhutan, a country in Southeast Asia, is located in the eastern part of the Himalayas in the Indian subcontinent. The country is bordered by Tibet in China to the north and India to the southeast. The total area of Bhutan is 38,394 sq km. The country ranks 133rd in the world in terms of size. The population of Bhutan is about 7 lakh 66 thousand 397 people. In terms of population, the country ranks 136th out of 138 countries.
Bhutan was a monarchy before 2008. That is, there was the rule of kings. Kings still rule today, but only in the name of the king. Since 2008, Bhutan has become a country of constitutional monarchy. As a result, the Prime Minister of that country is now elected by vote. The state religion of Bhutan is Buddhism. Thimphu is the capital and largest city of the country. Notable among other cities are Paro, Funtsling, Punakha and Bumthang. Among these cities, Funtsling is the main economic center of Bhutan. The name of the currency of Bhutan is 'Bhutanese Ngultrum' (BTN). The exchange of Indian rupees is also legal in this country.
Since Bhutan is a land-locked country, there is no sea or ocean around Bhutan. As a result, Bhutan has no navy. Bhutan also has no air force. The Indian Air Force provides security for Bhutan's skies. The Indian Army provides training to the Bhutanese Army. In Bhutan, the age of joining the military is 18 years. There are no mandatory rules for joining the army. However, paramilitary training is mandatory for Bhutanese men. Bhutan currently has 7,000 active troops, two helicopters and 27 armored vehicles.

ভূটানের সরকারি নাম কিংডম অফ ভূটান। দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশিয়ার দেশ ভূটান ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে হিমালয় পর্বতমালার পূর্বাংশে অবস্থিত। দেশটির উত্তরে চীনের তিব্বত অঞ্চল এবং দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব-পশ্চিমে ভারত অবস্থিত। ভূটানের মোট আয়তন হলো ৩৮,৩৯৪ বর্গ কিলোমিটার। আয়তনের দিক দিয়ে বিশ্বে দেশটির অবস্থান ১৩৩ তম। ভূটানের জনসংখ্যার পরিমাণ ৭ লক্ষ ৬৬ হাজার ৩৯৭ জন প্রায়। জনসংখ্যার দিক দিয়ে দেশটি ১৩৮ টি দেশের মধ্যে ১৩৬ তম স্থানে অবস্থান করছে।
ভুটানে ২০০৮ সালের আগে রাজতান্ত্রিক শাসন ব্যবস্থা ছিল। অর্থাৎ ঐখানে রাজাদের শাসন ছিল। বর্তমানেও রাজাদের শাসন আছে, কিন্তু রাজা নামে মাত্র প্রধান। ২০০৮ সালের পরে ভূটান সাংবিধানিক রাজতন্ত্রের দেশ হয়ে গিয়েছে। যার ফলে ঐ দেশে এখন ভোটের মাধ্যমে প্রধানমন্ত্রী নির্বাচিত হয়। ভূটানের রাষ্ট্রীয় ধর্ম হলো বৌদ্ধ ধর্ম। থিম্পু দেশটির রাজধানী এবং বৃহত্তম শহর। পারো, ফুন্টসলিং, পুনাখা ও বুমথং অন্যান্য শহরগুলোর মধ্যেে উল্লেখযোগ্য। এই শহরগুলোর মধ্যে ফুন্টসলিং ভূটানের প্রধান অর্থনৈতিক কেন্দ্র। ভূটানের মুদ্রার নাম হলো 'ভূটানি ঙুলট্রুম'। এছাড়াও দেশটিতে ভারতীয় রুপির আদান-প্রদানও বৈধতামূলক।
ভূটান যেহেতু একটি স্থলবেষ্টিত দেশ অর্থাৎ ভূটানের আশেপাশে কোন ধরনের সাগর বা মহাসাগর কিছুই নেই। যার ফলে ভূটানের কোন ধরনের নৌবাহিনী নেই। এছাড়াও ভূটানের কোন ধরনের বিমানবাহিনীও নেই। ভূটানের আকাশের নিরাপত্তা দিয়ে থাকে ভারতের বিমানবাহিনী। ভূটানের আর্মিবাহিনীকে ট্রেনিং দিয়ে থাকে ভারতের সেনাবাহিনী। ভূটানে মিলিটারিতে বা সেনাবাহিনীতে যোগ দেওয়ার বয়স হলো ১৮ বছর। সেনাবাহিনীতে যোগ দেওয়ার কোনো বাধ্যতামূলক নিয়ম নেই। তবে আধাসামরিক বাহিনীর ট্রেনিং আছে, সেই ট্রেনিং নেওয়া ভূটানের পুরুষদের জন্য বাধ্যতামূলক। বর্তমানে ভূটানের সক্রিয় সেনাবাহিনীর সৈন্য সংখ্যা হলো সাত হাজার, হেলিকপ্টার আছে দুইটি এবং সাঁজোয়া যান আছে ২৭ টি।
