TELEVISION - ITS USES AND ABUSES

Television is an excellent audio-visual media for mass communication. It is much popular to all age group people as an entertaining instrument. Watching TV news regularly is a common phenomenon to some people. It also broadcasts programs on education, games and sports, political situation, business and economy, weather, scientific discoveries, agriculture, animal kingdom, debate, general knowledge, and so on. These programs are helpful to keep us updated with current affairs, expand our knowledge regarding different issues, make us aware of our role and responsibility in addition to entertainment. But, nowadays abuse of such useful media has increased our anxiety. To attract viewers of particularly the young generation many satellite TV channels are broadcasting obscene films and exciting films on violence and crime. Some broadcast serials, music and dance of perverted taste. By watching these programs our young generation is becoming derailed. So, Satellite channels should stop broadcasting vulgar programs on the one hand and our young generation should be prevented from watching those programs on the other.
